File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a type of network protocol used to exchange and manipulate files over the Internet.  FTP can be used with user-based password authentication or with anonymous user access.

Users can use FTP to upload and modify their websites.  With some plans, you can give access to your folders to other people using the 'FTP Accounts' feature in cPanel.
